Calliope Product Family

The Calliope Platform allows embedded designers to build media-rich, products quickly and easily. It combines a processor/video scaler module and personality module in one small, rugged OEM enclosure with a flexible expansion module for customization and prototyping. Available in several configurations of hardware only, or packaged with a Linux build and optional basic applications (web browsing, Media Player, Qtopia, etc.), the Calliope Platform contains all the pieces you’ll need to build your next-generation connected product.

	Green Calliope Engine (GCE) The Green Calliope Engine (GCE) is the tiny, powerful compute module that is the key to the Calliope Platform. It combines two credit card size modules in a clean, rugged enclosure and a Linux application suite that delivers out-of-the-box functionality for Internet access. Hardware features include HD video output, digital camera, memory card storage, and USB connectivity. 	Expansion Module (EXM) A development board for prototyping, test and debug of hardware features and applications, the Expansion Module accommodates the Green Calliope Engine (GCE) or its modules with or without the rugged OEM enclosure. It provides real estate for custom logic and daughter card docking, and completes the Calliope Platform connectivity suite with Ethernet, JTAG and serial I/O ports. 	CPU Scaler Module (CSM) The Calliope CPU Scaler Module (CSM) is a highly integrated application and video processor in credit card size format. A power-efficient Marvell CPU provides compute horsepower for applications, hardware video acceleration and DRM security. The companion Marvell dual-channel, video format conversion processor converts graphics and video input from the Marvell CPU into any standard output format up to 1080p HD. The second 1080p full 10-bit video input is available as a general purpose video source for powerful format conversion, overlay, picture-in-picture and scaling. 	I/O Module (IOM) The full-featured, credit card size Calliope I/O Module provides the connectivity and key peripherals to create the media-rich application personality of the Green Calliope Engine. An integrated Bluetooth/WiFi chip allows simultaneous dual-radio operation. Digital video output (up to 1080p) and 2 Megapixel camera are included, as well as SD/MMC Memory Card Slot (16GB), three USB ports, IR Receiver, Mic In/Stereo Headphone Out and a 5V power supply input. Kits and Bundles
	Calliope Developer’s Kit (CDK) The Calliope Developer's Kit (CDK), developed with Marvell, provides embedded designers with everything required to build media-rich, connected products quickly and easily. It combines the complete Calliope Platform hardware package with a suite of open source system software and demonstration applications for rapid prototyping, hardware customization and hardware/software co-design. With its compact design and available system enclosure, the CDK easily transitions from workbench to demonstrator unit for business development teams. The CDK-1 contains the following items: GCE-1+EXM-1+JTAG Parallel Adaptor with cables+Serial Cable+Ethernet Cable+HDMI to DVI-D Adaptor Cable. (JTAG debugger SW License and download access to Linux BSP updates are available separately, directly from Marvell.)
	Calliope Module Bundle (CMB) The Calliope Module Bundle comprises the CPU Scaler and I/O Module components of the Calliope Platform as stand-alone boards. It enables development teams to work directly with the core compute and personality elements, for integration with separately sourced components and software. The CMB also is suited for delivery of low volume or early production runs of finished system designs.
